This is the first in a series of articles we want to publish for the benefit of those who want to start implementing their maintenance Reliability Indicators of operating equipment at its plants.
The Mean Time Between Failure is a concept that exists more than 60 years in the global industry. It has become the most important indicator of the departments of Maintenance and Design industries of developed countries.
What is Mean Time Between Failures MTBF?
Is the average time an equipment or its repairable components (non-repairable are measured by Mean Time To Failure MTTF, machine, line or plant fulfills its function without interruption due to a functional failure.
It is calculated by dividing the total operating time between the number of stoppages or functional failures.
